Posted September 16, 2018 12:08:15 It’s hard to remember that the summer of 2018 was a year of record-breaking heat.
But as the world celebrated Memorial Day weekend, a new report by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) shows how dangerous temperatures can be to people and the planet.
“The human body is the most vulnerable organism on Earth, and we have the highest mortality rate from heat-related diseases,” says Mark Steyn, a senior scientist at CSPI.
“We should be doing everything we can to avoid the worst of this.”
While this summer has been the warmest on record, it’s also been the hottest since records began in 1850, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
This means that the risk of dying from heat stress is likely higher this year than last.
Here’s how to prevent heat stress in your home and in your business.
First, think about your climate and how much it’s likely to change in the coming months.
The United Nations estimates that climate change will result in more extreme weather events like hurricanes, wildfires, and floods in the U-PEC region, the South Pacific and the Indian Ocean, as well as drought and heat waves in the northern parts of the U.-PEC.
This is especially true of the tropical zones, where tropical storms have already occurred and are expected to increase in frequency.
But heat waves and droughts are also common across the U-,PEC, and U-S-P regions.
“It’s going to get worse and worse, and it’s going at an alarming rate,” Steyn says.
“You have people who have already died in the heat of summer, and there’s no way they’re going to be able to get out of the heat in the winter.
So the odds are that we’re going, in a sense, into the worst-case scenario.”
And the worst can come sooner rather than later.
Steyn points out that the last five summers have all been hotter than average, and they are all the hottest on record.
For example, in 2018, the average summer temperature across the United States was 37 degrees Celsius above average.
And in the summer and winter of 2019, temperatures across the southern U.P. and the U .
S.-Pec were more than twice as hot as the average for the year.
This summer was also the warmEST on record for the U., PEC, South Pacific, and Indian Ocean.
The heat in 2018 and 2019 is also likely linked to increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere, according a report from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) released in July.
While the U ,P.E. and U. S.-P.
have seen some warming in recent years, the number of hot days per year has actually increased over the past 20 years, according the NCAR.
And since most of the warming has occurred in the southern United States, these areas are likely experiencing the most heat.
The NCAR also found that heat stress has increased in the Indian and South Pacific regions.
And this summer was the warmER on record in the region, with the average high temperature for the region in 2019 over 45 degrees Celsius hotter than it was during the warm years of the 1970s and 1980s.
This increased heat has caused many deaths and injuries in the area.
Steyne warns that it’s important to make a list of things to do to protect yourself from heat, especially during the hottest time of year.
“I think the first thing is to make an emergency plan,” Steyne says.
For instance, a checklist of what you can do to keep cool in your house and get away from the heat: Make sure your furnace is not working.
Make sure there are no heaters or fans in your room.
If you have pets, get rid of them as soon as possible.
Use the air conditioning or heating system you plan to use instead of the AC.
Install a window or air-conditioning system in your bathroom.
If the outside temperature is getting into the 40s or 50s Fahrenheit, stay outside.
If your building is too cold, leave your windows open.
Be aware of your surroundings.
For many years, Steyn recommends using a window in your office to help you avoid getting too hot.
“If you have a window on the roof of your house that has a thermal mass that will cool you down, then that would be a great way to stay cool,” Steys says.
But if you live in a home with windows that are open, like an office building or a loft, it is not an option.
“There is no window in the office building,” Steines says.
Steines recommends that people use window blinds and curtains instead.
This can help keep you cooler if you can’t see the outside.
“That will make you feel a lot cooler,” Steins says.
And if you do want
